Joseph E. Carpenter, Jr., “Joe”, age 69, of Tewksbury, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, died unexpectedly at home on January 4, 2016.
Joe was born on August 4, 1946 in Winchester, MA; he was the beloved son of the late Joseph E. Sr. and Josephine Carpenter. Joe was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the class of 1963.
Joe was a hard worker; for many years he was employed at the C, G & M Construction specializing in construction. Joe had a great work ethic and was a wonderful co-worker, all traits which made him quite an asset to the company.
Joe was quite an avid outdoorsman; he loved to go hunting and fishing with family and friends. Joe loved the open air, mountain ranges, lakes, and streams; he always found an excuse tobe outside and enjoying nature.
Joe will be fondly remembered as a “gentle giant” with a heart of gold and an endearing personality. He spent much of his time caring for others; family, friends, or a perfect stranger, it didn’t matter who you were if you needed help Joe was always there to lend a hand. Joe always had a tenancy to make friends wherever he went, he was outgoing and kind, he showered everyone he knew with unconditional love and he will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by the “Love of his Life” Charlene Carpenter of Tewksbury, he was the dear father of Keith Carpenter & his wife Laura of Townsend, grandfather of Kelsey, Kolby, and Layla Carpenter, beloved son of the late Joseph E. Sr. and Josephine M. (Costello) Carpenter, dear brother of Nancy Carpenter of Wilmington and David Carpenter of Nantucket. Joe is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, his two step-daughters and their families.
Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday,January 8th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the family lot at Wildwood Cemetery,Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, January 7th from 4:00-7:00p.m. Memorial donations in Joe’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave.,Waltham, MA 02453.
