Following graduation, Joe, was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal. Following nearly a year of active duty, Joe, was as honorably discharged and returned home to his family in East Boston.

Joe went on to further his education at Boston College and became a life-long Eagles Fan. Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and graduated in 1950. Joe’s alma mater became one of his favorite passions and he attended countless Eagles sporting events, especially football for many years. He also obtained a master’s degree in Education from Boston State Teachers College on the GI Bill.

Joe was recalled to the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He served from 1951- 1957 at home as well as overseas. Joe and Cathie looked forward to their annual two-week family vacation that they took for over 50 years at the Days Cottages in North Truro on Cape Cod. Joe and Cathie had lots of friends and neighbors that they considered extended family.

Joe worked hard to provide for his family and took his job very seriously. For over 17 years he was employed as an industrial security specialist for the United States Government’s Department of Defense. Prior to his time with the Dept. of Defense, he enjoyed working for Itek. Joe retired over 28 years ago and he along with his wife Cathie made the most of their retirement by spending lots of time with their family and friends. They also looked forward to traveling, taking cruises.

Joe was known to be a sports fanatic. He enjoyed following all the Boston sports teams. He occasionally took in a round of golf and enjoyed watching various golf tournaments on television.

Joe will be remembered as a “good guy”, friendly, kind, good sense of humor and always willing to help his family and friends. He was a regular at the annual “Brookside Nursery School” graduations where he helped out and had a great time with the kids and their families. Joe is dearly loved by his family and friends.
