Josephine M. Woodard

Josephine M. (Forester) Woodard, age 92, of Wilmington, died peacefully on August 25, 2013, at Woobriar Nursing Center in Wilmington.

Josephine was born in Woburn, MA, on October 3, 1920; she was the cherished daughter of the late Carl and Catherine (Celia) Forester.  Josephine was raised and educated in Woburn and a graduate of Woburn High School.  Josephine furthered her education at Burdett Business School in Boston.

Prior to retirement, Josephine, was employed as the executive secretary for the President of the Raytheon Company in Wayland.  Josephine was very conscientious and devoted to her work, she loved her job and over the years she made countless friends throughout the company.

Josephine lived in Woburn for many years where she raised her “boys”; Josephine loved being a mother, her family always came first.  Josephine always enjoyed family outings and special occasions; her dedication to her children, especially her son Billy, and grandchildren was always evident.

In her spare time, Josephine liked listening to music, she loved to dance, and she enjoyed following her son Jake’s band, where she always had a great time.

Josephine loved to travel and take cruises with her family and friends, she was always up for an adventure and was lots of fun to be with.

Josephine will be remembered as quite a “lady”, she loved to shop and always looked “just so”.  Josephine was a hard worker and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Roger Woodard, devoted mother of Jake Townsend and his wife Punckin of Wilmington, Steve Townsend and his wife Nancy of Shrewsbury, the late William and Francis Townsend, mother in law of Dorothy Bickford of Derry, NH, loving “Nana” of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherished daughter of the late Carl and Catherine Forester, dear sister of Anthony Forester and his wife Sheila, Angelo Forester and his wife Rose, the late Leo Forester and his wife Helen all of Woburn.  Josephine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Tuesday, August 27th, for Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.  Immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 noon.  Interment to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Derry, NH.  Memorial donations in Josephine’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

    Jake and family, I am sorry for your loss. I loved it when Josephine came to hear the band and dance. She put a smile on everyone’s face. What a grand lady.
