Joshua R. Giroux

October 25th, 2013

Joshua R. Giroux, age 24, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on October 24th, 2013 at the Winchester Hospital.

Josh was born on May 14, 1989, in Lawrence, MA, he was the cherished son of Mary A. (Winnett) Giroux and Edward T. Giroux of Wilmington.  Josh was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 2007.

Josh loved growing up in Wilmington and was part of a large and loving family and extended family.  He had lots of friends to “hang out with” and lots of teammates who he was close to.  Josh was very athletic and was involved in many sporting activities; he played Wilmington recreation basketball, Wilmington Pop Warner, and was a Junior Wrestler.  When Josh went to the high school, he played football for the Wilmington Wildcats and was on the Wildcat Wrestling Team.

In his spare time, Josh enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding on his quad.  He also loved listening to music and relaxing with his friends.  Josh also loved to spend time with his girlfriend, Gianna, whom he just adored.

Josh can be described as a special person; he had a magnetic personality that people wanted to be around.  Josh had a fantastic sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  He also was a great “protector,” always looking out for his siblings, Devin, Ryan and Nolan.  There wasn’t anything Josh wouldn’t do for the people he loved.  It didn’t matter what time of day it was, if you needed Josh, he was there.  Josh will be fondly remembered as sweet, kind, and considerate, he loved his family unconditionally and he will be greatly missed by all.

Josh was the cherished son of Mary A. (Winnett) Giroux and Edward T. Giroux, loving brother of Devin, Ryan and Nolan Giroux, all of Wilmington, beloved grandson of Howard T. and Jeanne M. Giroux of Wilmington and William H. and Maureen P. Winnett of Falmouth, formerly of Wilmington, dear nephew of Michele Higgs, Robin Halpin, Lisa Bozzella, John Giroux and the late Kevin Giroux, Chris Briggs, William Winnett, Jr., James Winnett, Peggy Welch, Paul Winnett, Fran Winnett and Beth Lawrenson.   Josh is also survived by his adoring girlfriend, Gianna Tenaglia, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, October 29th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.  Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, October 28th from 3-8 p.m.

    To Josh’s family
We are so sorry for you loss. We didn’t really know Josh, he was a friend of our son, Jon Benoit. Our son passed away seven weeks ago. Very similar to Josh. Josh came to his wake and made an impression on us. I could see his struggle in his eyes, but he was such a kind, polite young man-I was impressed. I’m so sorry. Gina
