Joyce K. Brisbois-Weiner

December 2nd, 2011

Joyce K. (Walden) Brisbois-Weiner, of Wilmington, died peacefully with her family at her side on December 1, 2011, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.

Joyce was raised and educated in Wilmington, graduating with the Wilmington High School Class of 1961 as Salutatorian. Joyce furthered her education at Bentley College in Waltham where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Taxation and Tax Law.

Joyce had a great work ethic and she was always driven to succeed in life and family.  Joyce started her career working for a local accountant and was involved in the real estate market building houses. She started her own bookkeeping and accounting business, steadily building a clientele that she kept throughout her many years in business. Joyce passed the Certified Public Accountants Exam in the early 1980s and soon after opened Joyce K. Brisbois CPA in Wilmington. Joyce was not only very intelligent, she also had a wonderful demeanor.  Over the years, many of Joyce’s faithful clients became close friends.

Joyce was extremely active and did a great amount of volunteer work.  She loved the town of Wilmington and gave back to her community time and time again. Joyce was a member of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Wilmington Finance Committee, a Justice of the Peace, a Notary Public, and a faithful member of the Wilmington Rotary Club for over 20 years. Joyce was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary Club for her continuous devotion to her community. She was very generous with her donations and more so with her time and expertise.  Joyce always found the time to help others and put the needs of others before her own.

Joyce was also a member of the Association of Certified Public Accountants and a Member of the Board at Winchester Hospital.

Joyce’s talents were endless. She was a gifted painter, an avid gardener, a landscaper, and she also had a knack for interior decorating.  There wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t try once.  Joyce was a well accomplished woman.

In her spare time, Joyce liked to golf, go boating, travel with her family and friends, and spending time in Palm Beach with Marvin.   Joyce’s love for her family was unconditional and unwavering.  She beamed with pride whenever she was asked about her husband, children, or grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed celebrating the holidays, special family events, or just sharing a Sunday dinner with Marvin and the kids.  She never missed an opportunity to be with them. Joyce was very proud of the family that she built.

Joyce will be remembered for her caring ways, her devotion to her family and friends, her generosity to others, and for her willingness to make the world a better place. She was well respected, hardworking, honest, kind, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joyce was the beloved wife of Marvin Weiner, devoted mother of Amy Weiner of Tewksbury, Francis Brisbois of Wilmington, Andrew Weiner of Billerica, Todd Brisbois, Lauren Weiss, Judith Weiner, Jordan Weiner, and Lindsey Weiss all of Wilmington, loving “Mimi” of Aaron and Alia Weiner and Grace Jean and Sophia Jean Brisbois. Dear sister of Patricia Murphy of Pelham, NH, James “Bill” Walden of Florida, Ralph Barden of Wilmington, Ted Barden of New Hampshire, and Eve Barden of California. Joyce is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours on Sunday, December 4th from 3-8 p.m. in the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church Street (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Joyce’s Funeral Service will be held in the Church on Monday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. followed by an interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Memorial donations in Joyce’s name may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 1 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA 02146.
