Karen B. Coffey

January 15th, 2018

Coffey, Karen B., age 60, of Saugus, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2018.

Karen was a Christian and attended and served at Grace Chapel in Wilmington, MA. She turned her life over to Jesus and was baptized in 2015. She loved her church community and grew in her faith over the years. Karen loved to be with friends, to laugh, to reminisce, and was a champion at quoting lines from Seinfeld. She also loved music especially from the 60’s and 70’s which always brought a smile to her face. She loved animals, and adopted and cared for countless homeless cats over the years.

Karen was a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran who proudly served her country for more than twenty-two years.

In recent years, Karen Coffey was a hard-working and dedicated employee of the MBTA/MassDOT. Her colleagues knew her as creative, energetic, witty, knowledgeable, generous and brilliant. Karen could always be counted on to do the job, always with a smile and a witty comment! Part of Karen’s legacy will include being a member of “TEAM FIERCE” that helped to develop and launch MassDOT University and the thousands of grateful employees this strategy helped and continues to help. Karen was a generous and giving spirit. She was always the first one to send a card to someone in need, give a gift, a hug and a lend a listening ear.

Karen was the cherished daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Wall) Coffey, dear sister of John Coffey, Jr. of Wakefield, the late Dennis Coffey and Patricia Olds. Karen is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, to whom she was part big sister, part mother-figure and part best friend.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
