Kathleen A. Nardone

June 22nd, 2016

Kathleen A. Nardone (Hansford), fondly known as “Kathy” to her family and friends died peacefully at her home on June 22, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 69 years old.

Kathy was born on April 15, 1947; she was the cherished only daughter of Frances and Doreen Hansford. Kathy was raised and educated in Medford, MA and was a graduate of Medford High School with the Class of 1965. Kathy went on to further her education at Tewksbury Hospital; she studied hard and earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Kathy loved being a nurse, for many years she worked at Lawrence Memorial in Medford and Lahey Clinic in Burlington. In her later years, Kathy worked at several nursing homes caring for the elderly. Kathy always had a way with her patients; she was so caring and compassionate and always had their best interest at heart.

On August 25, 1964, Kathy married her “sweetheart” Frank Nardone and another wonderful chapter in her life began. Kathy and Frank did everything together and truly enjoyed their time spent with family and friends. Kathy and Frank lived in Burlington for 20 years where they raised their three boys, Frank Jr., James, and Shawn. Kathy loved being a mother; her unconditional love and support for her family was evident in everything she did.

Kathy and Frank moved to Wilmington over 20 years ago and fit right in to their new community where their neighbors became like family and their door was always open to anyone in need.

Kathy also enjoyed the many years she summered in Hartford, Maine with her family and friends or summers they spent camping in New Hampshire. Kathy loved being on the water no matter where she was; she could just sit for hours relaxing with a cup of coffee and watching the boats go by.

Kathy will be remembered for her love of reading, watching movies especially a “good horror flick”, and her talent for decorating especially her home.

Kathy was quite a lady who would do anything for anyone; she was kind and loving but a “fighter” when it came to her illness. Kathy’s perseverance in the face of adversity gave her more time to spend with those she loved. Kathy will be greatly missed but forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Kathy was the beloved wife of Frank A. Nardone, devoted mother of Frank A. Nardone, Jr. of Kingston, NH, James E. Nardone & wife Terry of Turner, ME, and Shawn P. Nardone & wife Stefany of Atkinson, NH. Loving “Grandma” of Charlene, Jessica, Travis, Nathan, Heaven, Aiden, and great-grandson Deklan. Cherished daughter of the late Frances and Doreen (McGuffy) Hansford, dear sister of Billy Hansford & wife Susan of Tewksbury and Robert Hansford & wife Sally of Medford. Aunt of Kendra Pacella, Shauna Hansford, and Jarred Hansford. Kathy was also very special to Jill Cohen and is also survived by her beloved dog Maddie.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, June 25th at 10:30 a.m. followed by Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, June 24th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
