Kathy was born on August 6, 1951 in Malden, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late John J. and Cecelia T. (Smith) Coughlin. Kathy was raised and educated in Malden and a graduate of Malden High School.
Kathy married the “love of her life” Charles Carney in 1976; the couple resided in Malden for several years before moving to Wilmington 26 years ago. Kathy and Charlie became parents in 1985 to their daughter Erin who was the “light of their lives”. Kathy loved being a mom; she and Erin were extremely close and she was so very proud of her daughter.
Kathy worked for many years at Shaw’s Supermarket in Burlington; she was a very dedicated employee and was wonderful with the customers.
In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed shopping at the Mall and browsing for her “bargains”. She liked going to Twin Rivers and playing the penny slots; she never won much but she always had a good time. Kathy was also an avid reader and she liked to relax listening to “oldies” music.
Kathy was known to have a love for animals especially the family dogs that she had throughout the years; Kathy treated them as if they were her babies.
Kathy will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love for her family and friends; she was very caring and thoughtful. Kathy was an amazing lady who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kathy was the beloved wife of Charles B. Carney of Wilmington, devoted mother of Erin Trulli & her husband Dennis of Littleton. Cherished daughter of the late John and Cecelia (Smith) Coughlin, dear sister of John Coughlin & his wife Gail of Dorchester and Patricia Kelley & her husband John of Wilmington. Kathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, September 10th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 9th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
