labrecque, ireneIrene L. (Goudreau) Labrecque, age 79, of Wilmington, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a courageous battle with cancer.

Irene was born on May 18, 1930, in Pawtucket, RI, she was the dear daughter of the late Loria and Lillian (Lemoie) Goudreau. Irene grew up in Pawtucket and was educated there, in November of 1951, Irene married Roland R. Labrecque and the couple celebrated over 44 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1995.

Roland and Irene moved to Canada for several years and then back to Rhode Island. When they decided to move to Massachusetts, the couple settled in Beverly for many years and then in Amesbury, where they raised their children. Irene moved to Wilmington over 15 years ago and belonged to the Wilmington Senior Center.  Prior to retiring, Irene was a cook at the Rainbow Nursing Home for many years.

In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, traveling to Arizona and Las Vegas with her husband, to Florida and Disney World with her children and grandchildren, and on cruises with her family.

Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, a good friend and neighbor, she will be greatly missed by all.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Roland R. Labrecque, devoted mother of Fernand Labrecque & his wife Dorothy of Methuen, MA, Richard Labrecque & his wife Dona of Haverhill, MA, David Labrecque & his wife Jeannine of Methuen, MA, Loriann Langan & her husband Thomas of Kingston, NH, and the late George Labrecque, loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, dear sister of Pauline Lazouras of Attleboro, MA.

Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, March 24th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Tuesday, March 23rd from 4-8 p.m.

Memorial donations in Irene’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the Wilmington Senior Center, 15 School Street, Wilmington MA 01887.
