Naomi M. (Strob) (Abell) Landry, of Wilmington, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Somerville, MA and was the dear daughter of the late William Sr. and Olive (Coleman) Strob. Naomi moved to Wilmington as a young girl and she was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of 1955.
In years prior to her illness, Noami was a dedicated bookkeeper for many companies.
She also loved to do arts and crafts, she enjoyed trips to the casinos, spent many years in the bingo parlor, loved to follow her favorite game shows, listen to country music, and spend weekends with her husband at Weirs Beach.
First and foremost in Naomi’s life was her family, she enjoyed and cherished the time she spent with them. Noami especially loved the holiday seasons spent with her grandchildren who she adored and she was ever present at family cookouts.
She was also fortunate enough to marry her best friend and soul mate Raymond Landry 30 years ago. Naomi spent many years as a loving and devoted wife to Ray and he in turn took wonderful care of her throughout her illness.
Naomi will be remembered as kind and caring, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and good friend, she will be greatly missed.
Naomi was the beloved wife of Raymond J. Landry, Sr., devoted mother of Carl Abell and his wife Maureen (Bemis), Michael Abell and his wife Denise (Cunningham), and Steven Abell and his fiancé Cathy Morelli all of Wilmington, loving and devoted “Grammy” to Jillian, Kyle, Katie, and Harry all of Wilmington, step-mother of Tammy Garafano and her husband Howard of Texas, Janet Smith and her husband Gary of New Hampshire, Ray Landry, Jr. of Haverhill and Dianne Landry of Georgia, cherished sister of Ruthann Sampson and her husband Joseph of Wilmington, William Strob and his wife Pam of Tennessee, Joseph Strob and his wife Edith of Reading, Timothy Strob and his wife Marcia of Billerica, and John Strob and his wife Linda of Wilmington, Noami is also survived by many nieces, newphews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62) Wilmington for a Funeral Service on Friday, June 4th at 11:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Thursday, June 3rd from 4-8 p.m.
