Leon E. Roueche

Leon E. Roueche, age 95, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, died peacefully on January 8, 2018, at the Woburn Nursing Center.

Leon was born on July 3, 1922, in Meadville, Pennsylvania; he was the son of the late Samuel and Rhea Perry Roueche. Leon was raised and educated in Meadville, PA.

In October of 1942, Leon, enlisted in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and he served aboard the USS Wakefield. Leon received several commendations for his service and was honorably discharged in March of 1946.

Leon married “his sweetheart” Helen Gedrim on June 23, 1946; the couple settled in Wilmington, MA on May 16, 1956 where they raised their five children. Leon and Helen shared many wonderful years together before her passing in January of 2005.

Prior to retiring, Leon, worked as a cryogenics technician for AVCO in Wilmington as well as Raytheon in Waltham and Microwave in Burlington.

Leon was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Gedrim) Roueche, devoted father of Leon M. Roueche of Seattle, WA, Mark S. Roueche of Kingsville, MD, Dana R. Roueche of Niwot, CO, Keith D. Roueche of El Cerrito, CA and Lori A. Roueche of Orleans, MA. Leon is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, January 13th at 9:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA. Friends and family are invited.

In lieu of flower donations in Leon’s memory donations may be made to Youville Courtyard, 10 Pelham Road, Lexington, MA.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA.
