Lorraine J. (Malek) Mazzoni, age 74, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on May 17th, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

From her humble beginnings in Chelsea MA as the 5thof 7 children, she lived a rich life of family, friends, travel, dancing and laughter.  Lorraine’s professional career spanned from working for Mohawk Airlines, the IRS to the Wilmington School System.  The job she loved the most was as mother to her two children.  In her retirement, Lorraine threw herself into country line dancing, learning to ski, ballroom dancing, traveling, Texas Hold ‘Em and her favorite – going to the beach.  For the past 7 years, she was able to extend her beach season by spending winters in Florida with her husband of almost 49 years.  The most recent years were spent in Long Boat Key, where the beach was just across the street and there was always a nighttime gathering that included food and card games.

Lorraine was the beloved wife of Frank Mazzoni of Wilmington, devoted mother of Lori Mazzoni of Wilmington and Leah Dunn & her husband Gregory of Phoenix, AZ, loving Nana to her favorite granddaughter Avery Dunn, daughter of the late Stanley & Imelda (Francis) Malek. Lorraine is also survived by her six siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

To the Mazzoni’s, the Malek’s, and extended Family and Friends,
I’ve only just found out, and am so very sad to hear, of Lorraine’s passing. Though I only had the chance to meet her in person once, I could see what a lovely person she was (and will forever be, in your hearts and memories) by the warm welcome I received by her into her home and into her family. Though this comes very late, I want you to know I’m thinking of Lorraine and all of you I had the great honor and pleasure to meet and know in this life. My heart is with you now and always.
