Paul J. Lydon, of Wilmington, formerly of Newton and Watertown, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with ALS at the age of 42.

Born in Boston, MA, on January 25, 1968, Paul was the dear son of Peggy (O’Connor) Lydon of Newton and the late John Lydon. Paul grew up in Newtonville and was a graduate of Newton Catholic High School Class of 1986. He went on to further his education and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from U Mass Boston. Paul and Alice had four children; Joseph, Sean, Liam, and Molly. He absolutely loved being a husband and dad, he cherished every moment spent with his wife and kids. They were the center of his universe. In his spare time Paul enjoyed reading, running, and watching the history and military channels. He will be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, humbleness, and love of his Irish heritage. Paul was a fighter, he faced his illness with courage and strength, never giving up when things got tough and always setting an expample for those around him. He was never worried about himself, always having the utmost concern for his family and their well being. Paul will be fondly remembered for his kindness not only to his family but to his friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He was a true “gentleman” in every sense of the word.

Paul was the beloved husband of Alice L. (McCusker) Lydon , devoted and loving father of Joseph Paul, Sean Patrick, Liam James, and Molly Grace Lydon all of Wilmington, dear brother of Michael Lydon & his wife Donna of Marston Mills and Tommy Lydon of Newtonville.
