Madden, Michael

April 7th, 2010

madden, michaelMichael F. Madden, of Wilmington, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on April 7, 2010 at the age of 69.

Born on June 20, 1940, Michael spent his childhood in Cambridge. He then entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and served his country proudly. Michael moved to Wilmington in the late 1960’s where he met his future wife, Lynn Fielding. They soon married and enjoyed 36 years of marriage prior to her passing five years ago. Michael spent many years as a maintenance mechanic at Sweetheart Plastics where he met Lynn.

After working for several different companies during his career, he finally retired from the Converge Computer Company in 2005. Michael was quite the handy man; he enjoyed doing projects around his house and working around the yard. Michael was always willing to help out a neighbor with whatever they needed. When he was not doing projects around the house, Michael could be found listening to his favorite music or watching an old western movie or enjoying the occasional trip to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods. Most of all Michael enjoyed his family and friends, he cherished all the time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren.

Michael was the beloved husband of the late Lynn (Fielding) Madden, devoted father of Kimbly Cataldo and her husband John of Atkinson, NH, Kelly Madden and her husband James L. Robbins II of Atkinson, NH, Michael A. Madden and Cindy Calderbank of Tewksbury, and Kathleen “Punky” Macdonald and her husband Bob of Tewksbury. Michael was the loving grandfather of Samantha, Shawn, Lynn, Patrick, Alyssa, Kaitlin, Kassidy, Katrina, and Krissi. Beloved son of the late Leonard and Eleanor (Whalen) Madden. Brother of Paul Madden and his wife Cathe of Nashua, NH, and the late Tom, Leonard and Sally Madden. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours we held Sunday, April 11, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc.

Memorial donations in Michael’s name may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
