Marguerite H. Little

June 8th, 2020

Marguerite H. (Hatch) Little, age 99, of Wilmington, passed away following a brief illness on June 6, 2020.

Marguerite was born on August 5, 1920, to Anna (Eaton) and Edwin Hatch in Baltimore, MD but grew up in Elkridge, MD. She was a graduate from Western Maryland College, where she earned her teaching degree in English and French.

Marguerite worked as a payroll clerk for the Safeway Trails bus company. When Safeway Trails, Virginia Stage Lines and Carolina Coach bought Trailways of New England, she requested a transfer to Boston, MA. Marguerite was tired of the life in DC.

On a trip to the Cape with a friend, Marguerite met a gentleman, her future husband, Richard Little; they were married in Dec. 1961. They lived for a few years in Malden, before moving to Wilmington in April 1965, where she spent the rest of her life being a wife and a mom.

Marguerite and Richard were married for 37 years before he passed away in 1999. After his passing, she lived in her home for another 10 years before moving to New Horizon’s at Choate Hospital in their Assisted Living Facility. She lived there for over 6 years before moving to the Blaire House in Tewksbury, in their Assisted Living Facility.

Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Nanci A. (Little) Robinson, her son in law, William J. Robinson, and her pride and joy, her granddaughter, Kristina M. Robinson.

As a member of the Congregational Church, Marguerite was thankful for the many friends she met there. She had many great friends and wonderful friendships that she cherished all her life. What started out as a Prayer and Praise group on Monday nights became Tuesdays with the girls, which she loved and cherished as well as her Sunday nights talking with her dear friend Ruth in Elkridge.

Whatever name you called her: Mom, Mrs. Little, Marguerite, or her favorite Grammy Little, she was a very special person to many people who at the very end made it a point to see her family one more time and to tell them she loved them and thank you for taking care of me.

Due to the situation with the Coronavirus and the safety of the public, the family has requested that Funeral Services for Marguerite are private.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Marguerite’s name may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 375 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08034 or to the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, Patient Fund, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.

Arrangements under the direction of Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmington, MA.

What a dear woman she was. We so enjoyed studying the Bible and praying with her with others over a number of years! She could make us laugh and could remember things that the others in the group couldn’t think of. She so loved her brass band music. We will look forward to seeing her again someday. We send our condolences to you Nanci, Bill, and Kristina.

  4. Cathy Baker says:
