Marie S. Trickett

November 21st, 2015

Marie S. Trickett (Milley), age 89, of Windham, NH, formerly of Wilmington, MA and Port Richey, FL, died peacefully on November 21, 2015, at Wards Health Care Center in Windham, New Hampshire.

Marie was born on October 16, 1926, in Western Bay, Newfoundland, Canada; she was the dear daughter of the late Willis and Effie Milley. Marie was raised and educated in Newfoundland, Canada before moving to the United States in 1948, settling in Everett, MA.

Marie married her “sweetheart” David Trickett in 1948; the couple lived in Everett for a few years before moving to Wilmington in 1952 where they built their own home and raised their four wonderful children. Marie loved her family unconditionally; she was a great wife, mom, grammy, great-grammy, and nanny. Marie treasured the time spent with her family and enjoyed being involved in everything they did.

As a couple, Marie and Dave spent more than 40 great years together before his passing in 1992. Marie and Dave bought their retirement home in Port Richey, Florida in 1978; they fit right in with the community and made many friends throughout the years. Marie and Dave were regular “snow-birds” splitting their time between Florida, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire so they could be close to their family and friends. Marie along with her family had great times together and made countless memories to be shared for years to come. As Marie’s health declined a few years ago she relocated to Windham, NH to be closer to her family.

Marie was a woman of great faith and an active member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church. Marie was a member of the Eastern Star, she enjoyed her “women’s circles” at the church, and participated on the committee that organized building the church and its many renovations over the years.

In her spare time, Marie enjoyed knitting, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her church friends, family, and especially her grandchildren.

Marie will be fondly remembered for her kindness towards others and for her little antidotes: “It’s a good life if you don’t weaken” and “I will survive to 105″; Marie’s health did weaken and she didn’t live until 105 but she did live her life to the fullest and loved those around her with all her heart. Marie was quite a lady who will be greatly missed.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late David W. Trickett, devoted mother of David W. Trickett & his wife Cindy of Windham, NH, Paul M .Trickett & his wife Anne of Windham, NH, John C. Trickett & his wife June of Wilmington, MA and Elizabeth (Trickett) Thomas & her husband Robert of Seattle, WA. Loving “Grammy” of David Trickett, Eric Trickett, Janette (Trickett) Wiggett, Ashley Trickett, Jennifer Trickett, Ethan Thomas, Megan Thomas, the late John Trickett and the late Jared Thomas. Great Grammy to Jaylen, Cabot, Logan, Anderson and Declan. Cherished daughter of the late Willis and Effie (Follet) Milley, dear sister of John Milley, the late William Milley and the late Bernice (Milley) Moore.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Tuesday, November 24th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Marie’s Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday November 25th at 10:00 a.m. in the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church St., Wilmington. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at or mail to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.

Bill and I are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Marie. She was a dear lady and was greatly loved, I will always hold her close to my heart.

We shared a lot of memories and I will always remember her with her cute little laugh as she scrunched up her nose. Although I’m sad she’s gone I ‘m glad she didn’t suffer long. She is now at peace.

There is now one more star in the sky, as Heaven had gained another angel.
