Martin “Marty” Murray

March 3rd, 2021

Martin E. Murray, “Marty”, age 69, of Wilmington, formerly of Stoneham and Revere, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, surrounded by his loving family.

Marty was born on May 31, 1951, in Malden, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Martin F. Murray and Kathleen (Feeney) Murray. Marty was raised and educated in Stoneham, MA and graduated with the class of 1970 at Stoneham High School.

Marty married the “love of his life” Kathleen M. Millyan on April 13, 1986; the couple lived in Revere for several years before moving to Wilmington in 1995. Marty was a very devoted and loving husband to Kathy and Dad to his only child, Andrea; she was the apple of her father’s eye. Marty, Kathy and Andrea had so many wonderful times together throughout the years; in the early years they enjoyed traveling, hosting family holidays and summertime cookouts. As Marty’s health declined they enjoyed spending time at home together or out to family dinners; they all shared such a special bond.

Prior to retiring, Marty worked as a bus driver for the MBTA in Boston for over 15 years. Marty had an endearing personality. He was very friendly and kind towards everyone on his routes; he could talk to anyone on just about any subject.

Marty will be fondly remembered for his love of family, classic cars, trucks, animals, music, home cooking, a good cheeseburger (no condiments), and his big heart. Marty will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Marty was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Millyan) Murray of Wilmington, devoted father of Andrea K. Murray-Seaboyer and her husband Steven Seaboyer of Woburn, brother of Barbara Murray and David Murray of North Reading. The “Murr” will be remembered by his friends and all who knew him for his unique laughter and colorful vocabulary.

Family and friends will gather for Marty’s service on Friday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Masks are required to be worn while in the Funeral Home. www.nicholsfuneralhome.com

  5. John Maguire says:

I have great memories of Marty and his Cadillac cars. He loved the big ride back in the day, and I enjoyed driving around with him on occasion. He made a lot of his old friends forget about their own problems with his amazing gift, to make others laugh. I’m sorry that I never got to know him better during his marriage years, but worked nights for the USPS. Marty worked with me for awhile, till he got tired of it, and moved on. God Bless him, and hope to see him again on the other side some day. RIP Marty. John M
