Mary “Jackie” McDougall

October 29th, 2013

Mary “Jackie” McDougall, age 87, of Wilmington, died peacefully on October 28, 2013, at the Wilmington Health Care Center.  Jackie was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada on June 23, 1926, and was the beloved daughter of the late Vincent and Felicitas (McVarish) McInnis.

Jackie married Stephen J. McDougall in 1947 and the couple moved to the United States in 1951. They settled in Medford, MA, where they raised their two sons.  Jackie and Steve moved to Wilmington, MA in 1966, but she never forgot her roots in Canada and would make several trips “down home” over the years.

Jackie was very family oriented; she was a devoted mother and a loving grandmother.  Jackie loved to clean, cook and bake for her family and her house was always meticulous.  Jackie cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, whether it was taking long walks, attending school or sporting events, or following her grandson Scott’s hockey team; Jackie was always there with a smile to root them on.

Jackie was a hard worker, for many years she worked in the various cafeterias for the Wilmington School Department and was always helping out the kids by giving them “little extras” or covering the cost of their school lunch if they couldn’t afford it.  She just loved the kids.

Jackie was an avid sports fan; she enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Bruins with her family.

Jackie will be fondly remembered as kind, caring, and most of all giving of herself to others.  She was wonderful to her family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Jackie was the beloved wife of the late Stephen J. McDougall, devoted mother of Gary McDougall of Wilmington and Blaise McDougall and his wife Theresa of New Hampshire, the loving “Nam” of Scott McDougall, Shannon McDougall, Meghan McDougall, Darby Ranger and her husband Michael, “Great-Nam” of Mia and Alaina McDougall and Kadence Ranger.  Dear sister of Jo McInnis of Canada, the late Inez Hollohan, Phyllis McDonald, Ursula McInnis, Michael McInnis, Ted McInnis, and Vincent McInnis, sister-in-law of Don Hollohan and Donald McDonald.  Jackie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

At Jackie’s request her services will be private.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington.
