Mary Ellen (Sullivan) Lannan

MaryEllen (Sullivan) Lannan, age 81, of North Andover, formerly a long-time resident of Andover, died peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2013, at the Academy Manor Nursing Center.

MaryEllen was born on June 5, 1931, in Lawrence, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph C. and Ruth G. (McCormack) Sullivan.  MaryEllen was raised and educated in Andover, graduating from the Punchard High School with the Class of 1949.  MaryEllen went on to further her education at Boston University.

MaryEllen married her “sweetheart” George F. Lannan on August 20, 1955, the couple settled in Andover where they raised four sons. MaryEllen was a devoted wife,  a loving mother, and grandmother.  MaryEllen enjoyed socializing with her friends and to spend time with her family, she enjoyed holidays, family celebrations, and she was very proud of family’s accomplishments.  MaryEllen also enjoyed traveling, ceramics, yoga and was proudly involved in Boston University’s alumni program.

MaryEllen was a woman of great faith and was actively involved at St. Augustine’s Parish in Andover for many years.

Prior to raising her children, MaryEllen worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone where she was a hard working, dedicated, and faithful employee.

MaryEllen will be fondly remembered by her family and friends who will miss her dearly.

MaryEllen was the devoted wife of the late George Lannan, beloved mother of Timothy Lannan and his wife Eileen of Methuen, George Lannan and his wife Frances of Londonderry, NH, Kevin Lannan and his wife Wendy of Haverhill, and Brian Lannan and his wife Alexis of Boca Raton, FL, loving grandmother of Crysten, Kaitlyn, Brittany, Erin, Noel, and Mia, dear sister of Joseph Sullivan and his wife Mary Beth of Andover, Ruth McElheny and her husband Victor of Cambridge, and Joan Baranski and her late husband Ken of New York  and the late Cynthia Sullivan and a loving aunt of several nieces and nephews

At MaryEllen’s request, her funeral services will be private.   In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to adaa.org.
