Matthew C. “Matty” Merceri

Matthew C. “Matty” Merceri, age 84, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 2, 2019.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Matthew P. Merceri and his mother, Evelyn (Selvitella) Merceri.

Matthew is survived by his four sisters, Anna Mrvicin, Mary Naddaff, Evelyn Faro and Christine Bresnahan, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Matthew was a Master Electronics Technician for General Electronics for many years. He also served in the National Guard.

In his younger years, he loved to take his nephews camping and fishing. His favorite hobby was collecting trains.

He was a kind and gentle man; he was loved by all his family and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, October 7th at 9:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Lynnfield. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, October 6th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

    Matty was the sweetest most unassuming man you ever want to meet. He had a quick sense of humor as well. He will be missed by all of us, his family and friends. Love Pam and Barry

    Thank you Uncle Matty for all that you’ve ever done for me. You became the Dad I never had. You were always there for me. You bought me my first train set and now it looks like my last. The best times of my life we’re when you took me to New Hampshire and taught me how to shoot and fish. The greatest memories of my life. Rest in total peace Unc.
