Matthew J. Lombardi

Matthew J. “Matt” Lombardi, age 32, of Tewksbury, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2019.

Matt was born on December 6, 1986 in Melrose, MA; he was the cherished son of Mario and Deborah (Buckle) Lombardi. Matt was raised in Tewksbury as part of a large loving family of five brothers. He attended Shawsheen Tech where he excelled in mechanics and graduated with the Class of 2004.

Following graduation, Matt enlisted in the Army National Guard. He deployed in 2007 with the 972nd Military Police Company to aid in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Matt returned home and continued his fourteen year career with the Army as a mechanic with the 182nd Engineers.

Matt married Cara (Jenkins) Lombardi in 2013. The couple settled in Tewksbury where they were raising their three children; Cody, Macy & Lena. Matt was a loving Dad who loved to spend time with the kids and Cara.

Family was most important to Matt; he loved to spend time with his parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He looked forward to family get togethers, holidays and catching up with everyone’s daily lives.

Matt was an adventurous dare-devil; he really enjoyed sports vehicles of any kind, trucks, boats, dirt bikes, motorcycles – the faster, the better. Matt was always up for a challenge and a good time with his friends.

Matt was the life of the party and center of attention. He had an infectious personality and could have a good time anywhere he went; he loved to make people laugh. Matt was funny, goofy and made everyone feel comfortable around him; he was a good friend to many.

Matthew was the beloved husband of Cara L. (Jenkins) Lombardi, devoted father of Cody Lombardi, Macy Lombardi and Lena Lombardi, cherished son of Mario and Deborah (Buckle) Lombardi of Tewksbury, dear brother of Ken Lombardi & his wife Aliki of Tewksbury, Ben Lombardi & his wife Cheryl of Chelmsford, Michael Lombardi & Helen of CA and Alex Lombardi & his wife Janine of Tewksbury, son-in-law of Faye Jenkins of Wilmington and brother-in-law of the late Vinnie DiMauro. Matthew is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Thursday, August 1st at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury, at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31st from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
