Matthew W. Goodland

November 13th, 2018

Matthew W. Goodland, “Matty”, age 27, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on November 13, 2018, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Matthew was born in Melrose, MA on June 14, 1991; he was the cherished son of Bill and Ellen Goodland of Wilmington. Matthew was raised and educated in Wilmington and he played Wilmington Youth Hockey for many years. Matthew attended Shawsheen Valley Regional Technical High School in Billerica where he studied Medal Fabrication and Welding. Matthew graduated from Shawsheen Tech with the Class of 2010. Following High School, Matthew, went on to further his studies at the Peterson School in Woburn where he earned his certificates in HVAC as well as Refrigeration.

Matthew’s family was very proud of his accomplishments; he quickly became part of the “team” in the family business at the Constant Temperature Systems Company in Billerica. Matthew worked as a HVAC Refrigeration Technician; he was known to be very conscientious at his position and had a great work ethic. Matthew’s wonderful personality and his ability to work well with others made him quite a success at his job.

In his spare time, Matthew really enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed being outdoors and having fun with his family and friends. Matthew spent many happy days and weeks at York Beach in Maine with family; they made countless memories that will be shared for years to come. Matthew also looked forward to his many carp fishing and kayaking expeditions with his friends; they spent so many hours just having fun.

Matthew loved spending time with his dad working on classic muscle cars and trucks; he was very talented when it came to auto mechanics and could fix just about anything.

Matthew had a true passion for music of all kinds, his favorite being heavy metal; he played the guitar in multiple bands throughout the years. He along with his fellow bank mates were featured at many small venues in the area and they loved to perform.

Matthew will be fondly remembered as a “great guy” who was kind, caring and friendly towards everyone. Matthew had a huge heart and a personality to match; he loved his family and friends unconditionally and was never afraid to show it. Matthew left a huge impression of everyone he met, and he will forever be loved and missed by all.

Matthew was the cherished son of William C. and Ellen (Kendricken) Goodland, beloved brother of Stephanie Goodland all of Wilmington. Dear grandson of the late William & Jean Kendricken and the late William & Irene Goodland. He always would come out to greet us whenever he saw us outside and would strike up a conversation with our 4 year old. He was amazing with kids and would share all the things he used to do when he was his age. We will miss your backyard greetings, stories and most of all your warm smile.
