Maureen I. (Williams) Fiorenza

Maureen I. (Williams) Fiorenza, age 82, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2019.

Maureen was born on April 21, 1937 in Medford, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late John F. and Rachel I. (Nevers) Williams. Maureen grew up as part of a large, loving family of six sisters in Medford and graduated from Medford High School in 1954.

Maureen married her “sweetheart” Joseph J. Fiorenza, Jr. on October 19, 1957. The couple moved to Everett Ave. in Wilmington in 1966, where they raised their three sons Joe, Mark and Mike. Maureen was a devoted and loving wife and mother; she was very active and involved in everything her sons were part of and she was extremely proud of ‘her boys”. Maureen and Joe, along with their children shared many wonderful times together throughout the years before Joe’s untimely passing in December of 1996. ”

Maureen was delighted when she became “Nonni” to her three grandchildren, Michael, Maura and Jonas; they were the “light of her life”. She was passionate about attending their sporting events, especially their hockey games and school activities; she truly enjoyed watching her grandchildren flourish and treasured the times they spent together.

Prior to retiring, Maureen, worked as a sales associate for T.J. Maxx in Wilmington; she loved her job and the people she worked with. Maureen was a hard worker and very friendly and helpful to the customers; she was truly an asset to the company.

Maureen loved traveling and going out with her girlfriends; she looked forward to the trips with the Wilmington Recreation Department and she was very active at the Wilmington Senior Center. Maureen enjoyed participating in the activities, field trips and social hour at the Center. Her personality, charisma and quick wit made the Senior Center a fun place for all. Maureen also belonged to the coffee group with the ladies at “As Good As It Gets.” She loved to socialize with her friends and catch up with the people who stopped by the restaurant. One of Maureen’s favorite hobbies was bingo; she loved the bingo league and never missed the chance to see her friends on Tuesday nights.

Maureen was a woman of great faith and an active member of St. Dorothy’s Church; she attended the four o’clock Mass regularly on Saturdays.

Maureen will be remembered as a friendly and outgoing lady; she had a bubbly personality and loved to joke around with her family and friends. Maureen was greatly loved and will forever be missed by all.

Maureen was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Fiorenza, Jr., devoted mother of Joseph J. Fiorenza, III of Burlington, Mark S. Fiorenza & his wife Kim of Wichita, KS, and Michael Fiorenza & his wife Aileen of Wilmington, loving “Nonni” of Michael Fiorenza, Maura Fiorenza and Jonas Clark, cherished daughter of the late John F. and Rachel I. (Nevers) Williams, dear sister of Myrna Cormier of NH, the late Marcia Crouse, Marjorie Puleo, Mary Jane Casey, Marilyn Broadhead, Rob Parechanian and Al Parechanian. Maureen is survived by her loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., (Rte. 38), Wilmington on Wednesday, October 16th at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorial donations in Maureen’s name may be made to the Wilmington Senior Center, 15 School St., Wilmington, MA 01887.
