mclean-jamesJames F. “Jimmy” McLean, age 64, a long-time resident of Wilmington, formerly of Somerville, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the Winchester Hospital.

Born March 18, 1945, Somerville, MA, Jimmy was the dear son of the late George F. Sr. & Helen J. (Sullivan) McLean. Jimmy grew up in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School. He was employed as a truck driver for Roadway Express for many years before his disability forced him to retire. Jimmy was also a member of the Teamster Union Local 25 in Charlestown.

In his spare time, Jimmy enjoyed vacationing with family and friends, he loved travel to the Cape, North Conway, NH, and attend many conventions all over Vermont. He also loved to hold annual back yard cookouts and treat his friends to outings at his favorite restaurants. Jimmy will be fondly remembered as a good person with a heart of gold, he would do anything for anyone, and had a way of making other people feel special with the small gestures of appreciation he showed to everyone he loved. He will be greatly missed.

Jimmy was the brother of the late George F., Jr., Robert W., and Eugene J. McLean, Jimmy is survived by his dear friends Dorothy Ashworth of Gardner, Rhonda Pattelena of Wilmington, his childhood friend Frank Rogers of Somerville, and several nieces & nephews.

Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington for visitation on November 27, 2009 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Immediately followed by a Funeral Home Service at 1:30 p.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made to Wilmington Fire Department, Toys for Wilmington Children, 1 Adelaide St., Wilmington, MA 01887.

    Jimmy was my friend for over 40 years,he was influental in my sobriety,mylife and my heart.I followed Jim into the AA program and re-gained my life. Jim will be missed,by all.I currently live in Arizona so I am unable to attend but he will be in my prayers as I hope his spirit will watch over me..
