Mike was one of the older kids in our hood, but I remember him well. He was always a joker…from the Puerto rican garbage can to booger, flashlight tag to street hockey games. I can still pictute Mike smoking a butt while lifting weights in his back porch. Even though we were younger than him, Mike was cool enough to give us the time of day. I hadn’t seen Mike in a while, but always enjoyed catching up when we used to run into one another. Mike, I’ll always remember your sense of humor and all the great times we had as kids. To the Mercuri family, I am so sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  21. Pete DiRupo says:

Ray, Mark, Mr. and Mrs. Mercuri. So very very sorry to hear of Mikes passing. Word got out to me here at Fort Drum and all I could think of was what a shame it was for the world to have lost such a great guy. Though he was a little younger than me and Ray he was sharp as a whip. He always had me cracking up whenever I hung around your house. I remember all the great times everybody had playing street hockey out front, playing whiffleball and hanging out in the pool. No one in the neighborhood could ever forget pond hockey at the end of the street. Mike was always one of the guys there to help shovel the snow off the ice. He was a great hockey player and a really great kid to hang out with. God bless you all, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

    MAJ Peter J. DiRupo
