Michael C. Martin

Michael Charles Martin, age 39, of Wilmington, formerly of Malden and Tewksbury, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2018, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.

Michael was born on August 14, 1979; he was the cherished only son to Charles and Paulette Martin. Michael was raised and educated in Malden, MA; he attended Cheverus Centennial School and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School with the Class of 1996. Michael was also an active communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in Malden where he served as an altar boy for many years.

Michael was a loving father of Michael and McKayla; his kids were his entire world and did everything for them. Whether is was playing video games with his son or watching wrestling with his daughter; he treasured the time they spent together. Michael also enjoyed driving them to school and cooking for them; especially his famous chicken cutlets. Michael loved his children with all his heart; he fought fiercely for them and made sure they were always taken care of.

Michael will be fondly remembered as a “great guy” who would do anything for anyone; he was a wonderful son, dad, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.

Michael was the cherished son of Charles and Paulette (Soucy) Martin of Wilmington, formerly of Malden, he is survived by his beloved children Michael C. Jr. and McKayla Martin both of Wilmington and their mother JoAnne Sessa of Tewksbury. He was the dear brother of Deede Ann (Martin) Mebane & husband John of Quakertown, PA, loving uncle of Cheyenne, Cameron and Calie Mebane. Michael is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, April 13th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, April 12th from 3:00-8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Wilmington Community Fund, P. O. Box 147, Wilmington, MA 01887.

    I have a vivid memory of Michael saying, “Well, cheese and crackers, John!” in response to someone’s antics at a family gathering. We were all in stitches over this quirky exclamation. It makes me chuckle every time I think about it.

    Little Mikey and McKayla- Your father was a great man. Don’t ever forget that. He will be sorely missed. Don’t ever doubt that you have made proud, because you already have. He loved you two more then you’ll ever know and he would go to the end of the earth for you both. Both of you were his everything. This will be difficult, but you have an huge and amazing family by your side to comfort you and help you through this. Mikey and McKayla, if you ever need anything, you call me or Catrina. You both are always welcome to come visit us in NC.

    Mike will always be remembered in our hearts & thoughts. I remember when we were much younger. He would visit we would go to Video Galaxy Rental, get some G.I. Joe movies with Coke a Cola and Doritos chip and just spend the afternoon together as cousins. I also recall when I would visit him we would spend the whole day playing with his G.I. Joes and Hot Wheels tracks.
