Monica M. (King) Meyers

January 19th, 2013

Monica M. (King) Meyers, age 76, of Wilmington, formerly a long-time resident of Everett, passed away at home on January 18, 2013.

Monica was born and raised in Everett, MA, she came into the world on March 6, 1936, and was the cherished daughter of the late William and Margaret C. (Downey) King.  Monica was educated in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School.

Monica married the love of her life Patrick James Meyers, Sr. “Jim” on January 20, 1956, celebrating nearly 57 years of marriage and raising a beautiful family.  Monica and Jim resided in Everett for most of their married life before moving to Wilmington several years ago.  At home Monica was known as a “Mrs. Fix It” and a true carpenter at heart, there wasn’t much Monica couldn’t do if she set her mind to it.

Monica had a great work ethic, she started as a Clerk for Baybank and with her knowledge of banking and her customer service skills she worked her way up to Bank Manager and then to Bank Officer.  She retired following 25 years of dedicated service to her staff and customers and she thoroughly enjoyed her job.

Family was most important to Monica, she was a dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, Nana, daughter, sister, aunt, and a true friend to many.  She loved to host holidays, especially Thanksgiving where she cooked multiple turkeys and pies, the more the merrier at her table where everyone felt included, welcomed and loved.  Halloween was another favorite holiday where Monica would greet her little trick or treaters dressed as a witch, she really got into the spirit of the holiday.

Monica loved being a mother and Nana, she was extremely proud of her family, their accomplishments, celebrations, and their dreams.  She was supportive, caring, kind, and showered them with unconditional love.  Monica was quite a lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Monica was the beloved wife of Patrick James Meyers, Sr. “Jim”, devoted mother of Donna M. Meyers of Wilmington, Jim Meyers and his wife Marybeth of Middleton, Stephen M. Meyers and his wife Aeri of North Reading, and Raymond K. Meyers and his wife Gayle of Wilmington, loving “Nana” of Daniel Meyers and his fiancé Carolina, Andrea Meyers, Evan Meyers, Jarod Meyers, Julianne Meyers, and Olivia Meyers, cherished daughter of the late William and Margaret (Downey) King, dear sister of Barbara Keefe of Wakefield, Margaret Napolitano of Stoneham, Jean Morecroft and her husband Jim of Saugus, Loretta Cormier of Arizona, and the late Thomas King.  Monica is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, January 24th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.  Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  Memorial donations in Monica’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
