O’Leary, Eleanor

oleary-eleanorEleanor M. (Pilcher) O’Leary, age 72, a long-time resident of Wilmington, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at home surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.

Born on February 17, 1937, in Boston, MA, Eleanor was the dear daughter of the late Thomas C. and Eleanor C. (Selig) Pilcher. Eleanor lived in Charlestown and moved with her family to Wilmington as a young child. Eleanor was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of 1955. Prior to retiring, Eleanor was a banquet waitress for the Sheraton Hotel in Lexington for many years. Eleanor was very devoted to her family and she enjoyed spending every spare moment with her grandchildren.

Eleanor was the beloved wife of 30 years to the late George F. O’Leary, who passed in 1995. She was the devoted mother of Susan M. (O’Leary) Janeiro and George F. O’Leary, Jr. both of Wilmington, loving grandmother of Jacquelyn & her husband Phil, James, Jessen, Jeanette, and Jillian, dear sister of Thomas C. Pilcher & his wife Lynn of California, Anne M. Pilcher of Wilmington, James H. Pilcher & his wife Pat of New Hampshire, John J. Pilcher & his wife Dorothy of Wilmington and the late Michael P. Pilcher. Eleanor is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, May 13th for a visitation from 10-11 a.m., immediately followed by a Funeral Home Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in the family lot at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.

Memorial donations in Eleanor’s name may be made to the Make-A- Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114.
