October 27th, 2013

Patricia A. (Wodzynski) Bowerman, age 67, of Wilmington, formerly a long time resident of Arlington, passed away surrounded by her loving family at the Mass General Hospital, on October 26, 2013.

Patricia was born on May 17, 1946, in Boston, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Drozd) Wodznyski. Patricia was raised and educated in Somerville, MA and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Catholic Girls School in Somerville with the Class of 1964.

On June 12, 1965, Patricia married the “true love of her life” and her “best friend” Richard Eugene Bowerman.  Richard and Patricia, or “Trish” as he fondly called her, were a true example of a couple; there wasn’t anything they wouldn’t do for each other.  They were always together and truly enjoyed each others company.  Following their wedding, Patricia and Richard lived in Somerville for a few years before making their home in Arlington in 1969 where they lived for over 40 years and raised their four wonderful children.

Patricia always made her family her number one priority; she worked hard and took a lot of pride in making a wonderful home for them.  Patricia was always cooking, baking, sewing, and tending to her family’s every needs and she showered them with lots of love and affection.  Patricia took pride in making every holiday special and her door was always open to family, extended family, and many friends throughout the years.

When Patricia became “Nana” to Breyer, Hadley, Matthew, Stephen, and Lindsay, her world became a lot brighter, she loved her grandchildren unconditionally and was so proud of each of them.  Patricia cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, whether it was a school or sporting event, a dance recital, or just an afternoon “hanging out” with the kids Patricia was definitely their biggest fan.

Patricia also had countless talents such as embroidering, knitting, crocheting, and did an incredible job at hand quilting, always sharing her creations with family and friends.

Patricia was also an avid gardener and enjoyed growing plants, flowers, and vegetables throughout her yard.

In her spare time, Patricia enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband Richard, they took several cruises and trips to Aruba, they always had a great time together.

Patricia will be forever remembered for her strength and courage during her battle with cancer; she always remained hopeful and never complained; she had an extremely positive attitude and never gave up.  Patricia was always concerned about everyone around her and she was a true inspiration to all.

Patricia was quite a “lady”, she was kind, caring, loving, and had a smile that would light up a room.  She was devoted to her family and friends who will always hold a special place in their hearts and forever miss her.

Patricia was the beloved wife and best friend of 48 years to Richard E. Bowerman, devoted mother of Laura Ann Ott & her husband Daniel of Apple Valley, MN, Rebecca Marie Anthony & her husband Michael of Wilmington, Mark Richard Bowerman of Somerville, and the late Eric Charles Bowerman of Gloucester; all formerly of Arlington, loving and adored “Nana” of Breyer and Hadley Ott, Matthew, Stephen, and Lindsay Anthony, cherished daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Drozd) Wodzynski, dear sister of Charlene Weekley & her husband Ronald of Melrose, special “Auntie” of Alison Costello and Justin Weekley.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Wednesday, October 30th for Visiting Hours from 4-7 p.m.  Immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to the Mass General Hospital, The Center for Multiple Myeloma, Yawkey Building 7th Floor, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA   02114.
