Patricia E. Bedell

Patricia E. Bedell (O’Neil), “Pat”, age 83, of Haverhill, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2018.

Patricia was born on July 28, 1935 in Lowell, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Edward and Helen O’Neil. Pat was raised and educated in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School. Following High School, Pat, went on to earn her Nursing License at the Tewksbury State Hospital Nursing Program; she was so proud to be a nurse and was eager to start her career.

Pat spent many years as a nurse for the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Bedford; she had such kindness and compassion for the Veteran’s that she took care of. Pat treated her patients as well as their families as her own; she went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable.

Pat lived in Wilmington for many years where she raised four wonderful children; “family” was everything to her. Pat cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren whether she was at a school or sporting event, hosting a family holiday, or enjoying a family vacation; she loved every minute of it.

Pat will be fondly remembered and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pat was the beloved mother of Ellen Bedell & her husband Ray Dechoretz of South Bristol, ME, Nora Pearson, Andrew Bedell, Michael Bedell and his wife Christine all of Haverhill. Loving “Nanny” of Olivia and Evan Pearson, Julia and Peilan Bedell. Cherished daughter of the late Edward P. and Helen M. (Hannon) O’Neil, dear sister of the late William and Edward O’Neil. Pat is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, September 22nd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m.

Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 21st from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
