Patrick J. Lee

July 31st, 2012

Patrick J. Lee, age 91, of Wilmington, formerly of South Boston, died peacefully on July 30, 2012, at Woodbriar of Wilmington.

Patrick was born and raised in South Boston, MA and was the dear son of the late Patrick and Mary (Connolly) Lee, both of whom emigrated from Ireland.

Patrick was a graduate of South Boston High School and went on to further his education at Northeastern University in Boston, where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in law. Thereafter, Attorney Lee served as Clerk of Courts in the Suffolk County Courthouse in Boston. Following several decades of dedicated service, Patrick retired in December, 1987.

Patrick married the love of his life, Esther Rounds, in the fall of 1961, and the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October, 2011. In the early 1960s, Esther’s father, builder and realtor A.P. Rounds, constructed a home in Wilmington for his daughter and her new husband. The couple lived in this house until two years ago, when they moved to Windsor Place of Wilmington.

In his spare time, Patrick was a sports fan. A lifelong follower of the Boston Red Sox, he was thrilled with the team’s victories in 2004 and 2007 and bedeviled by the team’s disappointing performance in his last days.

Patrick will be fondly remembered for his outgoing nature and friendliness to those he met. His endearing personality drew people to him wherever he went, and he was loved by many.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife Esther F. (Rounds) Lee as well as many loving nieces and nephews, and dear friends and acquaintances.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, for Visitation on Saturday, August 4th from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patrick’s memory may be made to the Lahey Clinic, c/o Development Office, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805.
