Pauline A. (Henigan) Carlson

June 2nd, 2013

Pauline A. Carlson, age 84, of Wilmington, died peacefully with her family at her side on June 2, 2013, at the Wilmington Health Care Center in Wilmington.

Pauline was born on September 3, 1928 in Medford, she was the cherished daughter of the late James P.  and Florence E. (Griffin) Henigan.  As a young girl, Pauline showed her support for her father as he ran and won the Boston Marathon in 1931.  Pauline was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School.

Pauline married her late husband, Kenneth L. Carlson on August 5, 1957; sharing more than forty-two years together.  Pauline and Ken moved to Wilmington where they raised three wonderful children.  Family was most important to Pauline, she took great pride in caring for her home, children and in her later years her grandchildren; they were the light of her life.

Pauline was a woman of faith; she attended Mass at St. Thomas Church regularly.  She also enjoyed bowling, shopping and lunch with her friends.  Pauline often spent time at her lakeside cottage in Maine.

Pauline’s love of her family, her wonderful sense of humor and fun-loving nature will be so very much missed by all, especially at the many gatherings and occasions with family and friends.

Pauline was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth L. Carlson, devoted mother of Gary L. Carlson of Wilmington,  Sandra A. Gray & her husband Stephen of North Berwick, ME, and Glenn A. Carlson and his wife Mary Ann of Tewksbury, loving “Nana” of Ryan Carlson, Matthew Carlson, Jessica Carlson, James Lavine, Cassandra Carlson and Jenna Carlson, cherished daughter of the late James P. and Florence E. (Griffin) Henigan, dear sister of the late James Henigan, Florence Frazier, John Henigan, Rita Lang, Richard Henigan and William Henigan. Pauline is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 5th at 10:00 a.m.  in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington.  Interment  to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.   Memorial donations in Pauline’s name may be made to the Pan-Mass Challenge in support of her son, Glenn A. Gary and family:

We wish you our sincere condolences. Our love ones never lost, specially our mom. We are a part of them. They will always live as long as we exist. I agree it is always better to see them around, cherish them, listen to their kind advice, and enjoy their remarkably love. However, we have no control on time, the nature events, and the death of our love ones as well. We believe your mom accomplishes her mission nicely, and now she is resting in peace where God prepared for her. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
