Phyllis A. (Muse) Hailey, age 86, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2017 at the Woburn Nursing Center.

Phyllis was born on April 5, 1931 in Wilmington; she is the cherished daughter of the late John F. and Mary L. (Dulong) Muse. Phyllis was raised in Wilmington and graduated from the Wilmington High School.

Phyllis married James A. Hailey and the couple spent many wonderful years together. They loved to travel and socialize with their families and large group of friends.

Phyllis was an active member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church, where she regularly attended 8 a.m. church services. Phyllis was very involved in the social activities of the church; she was a member of the UMW and served on the Visitation Committee of the UMW. She was also a member of the Rebecca Sarah Circle and offered her support to others by joining the Widow’s Group. Phyllis was a regular participant in the church suppers, church fairs and other events, often bringing a large group of friends to help with the attendance. Phyllis faithfully served and cooked for the St. Paul’s Meal Program in Lowell for many years. She was a very generous person who enjoyed giving her time and talents to those in need.

Phyllis also volunteered her time in the local community; she was part of the Wilmington Women’s Club and was a founding member of the Wilmington Senior Center. Phyllis spent much of her time at the Senior Center; she loved to “catch up” with her friends and was involved in the Crafting Club. Phyllis often shared her famous “corn chowder” at the Center, which was enjoyed by all.

Phyllis was a wonderful person; always a smile and a kind word to those she came across. She will be missed by her family and those whom she considered her extended family.

To Phyllis’s Family. So sorry to have found out of Phyllis’s passing.. She was my Mothers cousin and I met her once and sorry to say they hadn’t stayed in touch, so my Mom did not know.. I do know she stayed in touch with one of my aunts through the years up until her passing in 2012.
