Raymond F. Robson, “Gunner” and better known as “Pup” to his family and friends, age 82, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 11, 2017 at Winchester Hospital following a brief illness.
Ray was born on September 15, 1934 in Medford, MA; he was the cherished son of the late James and Grace Robson.
Ray enlisted in the Marines as a young man on November 14, 1954. He proudly served his country during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was honorably discharged on December 7, 1962. Although Ray enjoyed his life in the marines he gave it up to returned home to care for his family.
Ray married Ethel M. Rauseo on April 14, 1956; the couple just shared their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Ray and Ethel had many wonderful memories through their years together just enjoying their life and large family of eight children and many grandchildren.
Ray, along with Ethel enjoyed working hard and taking care of anyone and anything that came through the door; he took pride in helping others. Ray also enjoyed going on camping trips with his family, going to Canada for hockey trips and fishing. Ray’s favorite place to go was to “Red Hill” for hunting with his boys, grandsons and his nephew.
Ray and Ethel’s grandchildren were everything to them, although considered “spoiled,” they were the light of their life. The house was never quiet, just the way Ray liked it; whether it was day, night, or a weekend, Ray and Ethel always took the grandchildren and enjoyed every minute of it.
Ray will be remembered for his fun-loving personality. There will be many fun and crazy times that will never be forgotten. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. “Love Ya Pup”.
Ray is the beloved husband of Ethel M. (Rauseo) Robson, father of Diane Fanning & husband Kevin, Susan Thibeault & husband David, Raymond Robson Jr. & wife Cheryl, Robert Robson & wife Paula, Cathy Hope, Donna Elliott & husband David, John Robson & fiance Lisa and Patricia Robson, “Pup” of 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, brother of James, Richard, Arthur, Larry and Betty Robson. Ray is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday, March 20th for Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Immediately followed by a Service with Military Honors at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the American Lung Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
