Richard J. Arfwedson, “Rich”, age 66, of Haverhill, formerly of Plaistow, NH, and Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by family following a lengthy illness on October 4, 2021.

Rich was born in 1955, in Winchester, MA; he was the son of the late Alfred and Frances (Neal) Arfwedson. Rich was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1975.

Rich went to work for Compugraphic/AGFA for more than twelve years, where he made many friends. He later took a General Manager position at J.J. Levis Paper Company. Rich enjoyed working for the company, but after twenty-two years, he retired.

In 1985, Rich moved with his family to Plaistow, NH and later settled in Haverhill. Rich had one son, Eric, whom he was extremely proud of. Their favorite memories include outdoor adventures, sporting events, and joking around.

Rich loved the outdoors, especially hiking in the white mountains, spending time at the beach, and biking. He was also the proud dog owner of Gizmo, Casey and Bailey.

Rich will be remembered for his honesty and loyalty; he was the most genuine guy around. He was also a fighter; his strength through his illness will never be forgotten. Rich was a loving Dad, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Rich was the devoted father of Eric Arfwedson & his wife Lori Buonanno-Arfwedson of Methuen, dear brother of Charlene Yeo & her husband Charlie of Billerica, the late Mary Ann Dulong and Alfred Arfwedson, Jr., loving uncle of Ann & Michael Close, Stephen Dulong, Katie & Pat O’Shea, Michael Yeo, and Brian & Emily Mailhot. Rich is survived by his brother-in-law, Stephen Dulong & his wife Martha, his former spouse & friend, Corinne (Mailhot) Arfwedson, as well as many loving great-nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, October 8th at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery, Tewksbury. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 7th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
