Rita A. (McDonough) Maxwell, age 78, of Pittsfield, NH, formerly of Wilmington, MA passed away on May 2, 2018.

Rita was the beloved wife of Robert Maxwell, devoted mother of Robert Maxwell Jr. and his wife Karen of Londonderry, NH, Susan O’Connell and her husband Shawn of Northwood, NH, Teri Walsh of Wilmington, MA and the late Judi James, loving grandmother of Robert Maxwell III, and the late Brian Maxwell, Dylan James, Keith James, Katie Lacey, Patrick O’Connell, Jonathan O’Connell, Kaila Walsh, Kristina Walsh, and Joseph Walsh, Great-grandmother to Ava and Elise Lacey, cherished daughter of the late John and Evelyn McDonough, dear sister of William McDonough, Henry “Sonny” McCue, the late Robert McDonough, the late Thomas McDonough, the late Donald McCue and the late Joan Fallon. Rita is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Sunday, May 6th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Rita’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452. (

    I have nothing but good memories of Rita. She was a warm, good hearted person with a wonderful sense of humor who I enjoyed teasing whenever possible. I can still hear her laughter. I take comfort in knowing she’s with Judi now. God bless.
