Rita was a hard worker, she worked for the Epsilon Company for many years and in 1992 was recognized with the William L. Prior to retiring, Rita also worked for 13 years at Quest Diagnostic Medical Labs as a customer service representative, she was a dedicated and faithful employee and a friend to many within the company.

In her spare time, Rita enjoyed dancing, gardening, walking, shopping for clothes, watching her favorite television programs, and traveling.  She took countless trips and cruises with her family and friends enjoyed each as if it was her first.  Rita was also a member of the Burlington Scarlet O’Hatters; a chapter of the Red Hat Society; enjoying the many outings and social events that she participated in.

Rita was a wonderful friend, her kindness and caring were an example to others.  Rita had countless friends that she considered special, each unique, kind, and loving; she always had a great time with her many friends.

Without a doubt family was most important to Rita, the birth of her son, his wedding to the “daughter” she loved, and the birth of her first granddaughter and twin granddaughters to follow; these were Rita’s most precious memories.  Rita enjoyed all her family holidays, celebrations, milestones, and accomplishments. Rita spent the last years of her life living with her son, daughter in law, and granddaughters, this was a time that she cherished and held dear to her heart.  Rita loved her family unconditionally and received much love in return; she was extremely proud of her family.

Rita will be fondly remembered for her strength, as her health declined she never gave up and handled her diagnosis with grace, courage, and faith.  Rita was going to live each and every minute to the fullest; she was truly an amazing women who was beautiful inside and out and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Rita was the beloved mother of William M. Steed III and his wife Annmarie, who was like a daughter to her, loving “Nanny” of Angela Marie, Talia Rose, and Grace Marie Steed all of Wilmington, dear sister of Maryann Ciavardone of Stoneham, Josephine Perkins of Raynham, and Nicholas A. Ritrovato, Jr. of Somerville.  Rita is also survived by several nieces, nephews, many special friends and her family pet Eddie.

The world stopped a split second on Tuesday when Rita left this level of existence. The heavens were delighted to welcome this soul home. She was the best friend. She never said anything to anyone that she could not say to their face. Her humor and zest for life was evident with all that know her.
Her greatest love was her son and family. She was so proud of you Billy.
I know you and your family will continue to grow with love and happiness because that is the only way she would want to be honored.

Our condolences go out to Rita’s family, she will be missed. We have countless fond memories of the times we’ve spent with Rita. The Bedford dances and then off to Bickfords later that night, going to dinner at the Chateau or just being at her beautiful Waltham home.
There was this one time when Rita was making a big pot of sauce and she and I had our backs to the stove and John was standing by the back door and John said to us ” be quiet, move away slowly and don’t turn around” well of course whats the first thing Rita and I do? At the same time we both turned around, screamed and saw this little mouse enjoying her sauce from the spoon on her stove, well Rita went in one direction and I went in another and John grabbed a broom and BAM!!
Rita was such a fun and loving Lady who we all loved.
Thank you for all the beautiful memories,
    John DeMeo and Lee Stott

I am so saddened to hear of Rita’s passing. I remember her well working with her at Quest Diagnostics. I still have the angle figurine on my desk that she gave me years ago. Rita and I took our breaks at work together, she used to joke that I was Emma Peel ( because at the time I wore leggings ) and she was Steed from the TV series The Avengers. I will remember Rita fondly and will remember the good times we shared. I am so sorry for your loss. Rita was a great lady !!!
