Ronald E. LaLiberte

Ronald E. “Ron” LaLiberte, age 73, of Wilmington, passed away on September 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Cambridge on June 6, 1941, and was one of four children of Albert and Florence (Perrault) LaLiberte. Ron was raised in Tewksbury and attended Tewksbury Public Schools.

Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1964 and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Army, Ron returned home and married the love of his life, Sandra, in 1966. They bought a house in Wilmington and together raise six children. Ron was a hard worker; he worked for some time with the Brookside Construction Company and later as a self-employed carpenter. Family was of the utmost importance to Ron, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and his beloved dog, Minnie.

Ron also enjoyed camping at Old Orchard Beach in Maine, where he would sit out in the sun. He was a fun guy to be around, always looking to have a good time.

Ron was the beloved husband of Sandra (Dupras) LaLiberte of Wilmington. He was the loving father of Deborah LaLiberte of Wilmington, David LaLiberte of Wilmington, Mark LaLiberte & his wife Joanne of Cary, NC, Renee Pineau & her husband Joseph of Wilmington, Janine Hersom & her husband Dickie of Wilmington and the late Joseph LaLiberte. Ron was the cherished “Grampy” of Jessica Dee, Stephanie Whippie, Kevin and Patrick LaLiberte, Jacqueleen Fonseca & her husband Kevin, Joseph Pineau, Richie, McKayla, Matthew and Michael Hersom and “Great Grampy” of Jake. He was the dear brother of Francis LaLiberte of NH and the late Albert LaLiberte & Jacqueline Swain. Ron is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave, (Rt. 62), Wilmington, for a funeral on Wednesday, October 1st, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, September 30th, from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations in Ron’s name can be made to Local Heroes, Inc., P.O. Box 536, Wilmington, MA 01887.
