Rose M. (Stella) Miele

Rose M. (Stella) Miele, age 58, a resident of Wilmington, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 1, 2017.

Born February 10, 1959 in Santa Caterina Villarmosa on the island of Sicily, Italy, Rose and her family immigrated to the United States in 1972 and settled in East Boston. She graduated from East Boston High School in 1977. Rose attended the Massachusetts General Hospital School for Radiologic Technology and graduated in 1981. She worked at the hospital for her entire career, thirty-five years, until her illness forced her to stop. She loved MGH and considered the people she worked with at the hospital her second family.

Rose will always be remembered for her ever present smile and a pleasant disposition that immediately put people at ease and made them love to be around her. Her children were the center of her world and she loved spending time with them. Besides her family and friends, Rose’s passions were being by the ocean, cooking and gardening. Rose will be missed by all the people she encountered in her lifetime.

Rose is survived by her husband of thirty three years, Alex Miele, her daughter Christina of Boston, her son Thomas and his wife Kristen of North Reading, her mother Maria Stella of Stoneham, her sister Grace Boutin and her husband George of Westford, her sister Joanne Stella of Stoneham, her nephews Craig Boutin, Kyle Boutin, Marc Boutin, Geoffrey Boutin, Teddy Miele, Michael Miele and her nieces Isabella Miele and Jillian Miele. Her father-in-law Augustus Miele of Wilmington, her brothers and sisters-in-law Gary Miele and his wife Chrissie of Wilmington and Robert Miele and his wife Linda of Reading.

A Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington on Friday, September 8th at 10:00 AM.

In leu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Friends of the Mass General Cancer Center Fund, c/o, Mass General Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.

    Sending my condolences to the Miele family – this is such sad news. I have many fond memories spending time with Rose as we took the kids to CCD, soccer practices, Youth Center and all the activities that were held at school. Rose was so helpful to me when I had dr. appts that required me going into Boston offering to drive me in and make sure I got to where I needed to go. I am so very sorry for your loss.
