March 4th, 2011

Robert J. “Bob” Santos, age 66, of Tewksbury, formerly a long-time Wilmington resident, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 4, 2011, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.

Born on January 10, 1945 in Lowell, MA, Bob was the cherished only child of Manuel and Alice (Martin) Santos.

Bob grew up and was educated in Lowell and he was a graduate of Keith Academy Class of 1963. Bob married his High School Sweetheart Geraldine Sanville in 1963 and the couple moved to Wilmington. Bob and Geraldine had a great life together, they celebrated 48 years of marriage, raised two good sons, and were wonderful grandparents. Bob especially loved being a “Papa”, his granddaughters were the light of his life.

Prior to retiring, Bob worked at General Tire Company in Lowell for many years before he started his own auto detailing business in 1988 called “Bob’s Auto Recon” which was located in Wilmington. Bob did a great job and built a nice clientele over the years.

In his spare time, Bob liked to follow sports, not pro sports, but High School and youth sports, he would often be seen at many Wilmington High School Football games or at the Little League Field where he was a coach for many years and then attended the games just to support the kids.

Bob was also a very social guy, he liked people, and was always concerned with what was going on in their lives. He would often be found at Dunkin Donuts in Woburn, reading the paper, and talking with the many patrons whether he knew them or not, everyone was a friend to Bob.

Bob will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving family man, a good neighbor, and a great friend.

Bob is survived by his beloved husband of Geraldine (Sanville) Santos, he was the devoted father of Robert J. Santos & his wife Catherine and Daniel W. Santos & his wife Gail all of Tewksbury, loving Papa of Christine, Elizabeth, and Daniella, brother-in-law of Marie & Harold Skinner of Tewksbury, William & Gail Sanville of Connecticut, and George & Agnes Wilson of Florida, Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Dad, I will miss you every day and always love you. You have always been such a positive influence on all that have surrounded you with your smile and personality. You will always be a truly loved man by all that knew you and will be missed by all that you have touched through your time here. You will be my inspiration to better myself for the rest of my years. I will never forget the times you were aways ready to toss fly balls or go for an ice cream and just the times a dad was needed regardless of how tired you were or whatever time it was, you were always there! I hope that I can be half the person/dad you were. May you rest your tired soul and be at peace. You will always be in my mind and my heart. Thank you for bringing us all together again. I love you…..always your son, Danny
