Shirley Jean (Nutt) Nolan

March 19th, 2019

Shirley Jean Nolan (Nutt), age 72, of Tewksbury, passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 18, 2019 at the Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus.

Shirley was born on June 16, 1946 in Arlington, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Alfred and Ellen V. (Trombley) Nutt.

Shirley married her “sweetheart” Robert Nolan over 50 years ago; the couple lived in Wilmington before moving to Tewksbury. Shirley loved her home and she took pride in raising her children Keith and Dawn-Marie. Shirley was a wonderful wife and mother; she was the “glue” of the family and she cherished all the great times they had together.

After Shirley’s children went to school, she went to work as an administrative assistant. Shirley loved her job; she was a “jack of all trades”; her endearing personality and great people skills made her a favorite among her co-workers as well as her customers. Shirley retired from Dell several years ago to take a position as a full time “Nana,” for her only granddaughter Makayla Jean; this was her most favorite job.

Shirley will be remembered as a simple yet strong lady; she was an amazing person and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Shirley was the beloved wife of 50 years of Robert J. Nolan, devoted mother of Keith W. Nolan and Dawn-Marie Nolan, loving “Nana” of Makayla Jean Nolan all of Tewksbury, dear sister of Dorothy Alcott and her late husband Joe of CT, Trudy Ann Wade & her husband Frank of Milford, NH and the late Cynthia Wilson, sister-in-law of William Nolan of Wilmington. Shirley is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21st from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
