Shirley (Nunziato) Peterson

Shirley E. Peterson (Nunziato), age 83, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2018.

Shirley was the beloved wife of 63 years to Charles E. Peterson, devoted mother of Debbie Leone & husband Tony of Watertown, Denise Harding of St. Augustine, FL, Doreen Rich & husband Fred of Tewksbury, Cy Rousseau & wife DeeDee of Georgia and the late Charles Peterson. Loving “Grammy” of Danielle, Kelly, Lori, Jenifer, Michael, Dana and Great-Grandchildren Laz, Kendall, Drew, Addison, Andrew, Samuel, Jason, Levi, Piper and Dani Rose. Cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Simone (Blackburn) Nunziato, dear sister of Lois Bellini of Medford and James Nunziato of Lowell. Shirley is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, December 31st at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, December 30th from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 800 W. Cummings Park, Suite 3100, Woburn, MA 01801.

    I met aunt DD through Rich 3 years ago when she was still home . Met me with open arms and I found her to be a very loving , funny and talented lady . Her paintings were and are beautiful where two still hang in our home . Her laughter and stories she told while I was there brought us all a lot of laughs as she shared her camping memories and family memories. Sweet ,kind and loveable . May she Rest In Peace .
