Stephen J. Bowker

August 6th, 2019

Stephen J. Bowker, age 58, of Wilmington, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on August 5, 2019, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Stephen was born on January 24, 1961 in Medford, MA; he was the son of the late Wilfred J. and Bernice E. (Kondrup) Bowker. Stephen was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School.

Following graduation, Stephen furthered his education at Northeastern University, where he majored in Real Estate. After earning his certificate, he went to work in the real estate field doing appraisals and sales.

After a few years, Stephen went to work as a truck driver. He worked at a few companies before taking a position at the United States Post Office for over ten years. Stephen loved his job and made friends wherever he went.

Stephen met and married Janice (Annunziata) Bowker on November 18, 1995. They moved to Wilmington in January of 2001, where they raised their two sons, Stephen, Jr. and Anthony. Stephen was so proud of his boys; he was a devoted father and their number one fan. Stephen never missed a sports game, a school function, or a special event. He was always on the sidelines cheering them on and making friends with the other parents.

Stephen loved to spend time with his family; they made countless memories together. They loved to have get-togethers for holidays, special occasions or just hanging out at home. They enjoyed travelling, especially to Aruba with the entire family each Thanksgiving. They also enjoyed many cruises and trips to New Hampshire.

In his spare time, Stephen loved to watch all the Boston sports games, especially Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots. He looked forward to spending time with his family and friends in front of the TV cheering on his teams.

Stephen will be remembered for his magnetic personality; he was a kind and caring person who made many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was easy going and loved to talk to anyone wherever he went. Stephen had a positive outlook on life and even though he was sick, he did not let that stop him from enjoying the things that were most important to him.

Stephen was the beloved husband of Janice (Annunziata) Bowker, devoted father of Stephen John Bowker, Jr. & his girlfriend Sarah E. Young and Anthony John Bowker all of Wilmington, cherished son of the late Wilfred J. and Bernice E. (Kondrup) Bowker, dear brother of Edward W. Bowker & his wife Elaine of Las Vegas and James D. Bowker & his wife Jennifer Borman of Cranston, RI, uncle of Isabella and Benjamin Bowker, son-in-law of Anthony Annunziata & his wife Zsa Zsa of Woburn. Stephen is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Abundant Life Christian Center, 173 Church St., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, August 9th from 3:00-7:00 p.m.
