Steven G. Ritchie

Steven G. Ritchie, age 51, of Lawrence, formerly of Wilmington, died unexpectedly on May 12, 2014, at the Portsmouth Hospital in Portsmouth, NH.

Steven was born on April 4, 1963, in Winchester, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Charles and Phyllis (Martell) Ritchie.  Steven was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1981.

At the time of his death, Steven was employed at the Northern Business Machines Company.

Steven married his high school sweetheart Patricia Barysky on August 31, 1985 and together they raised three wonderful sons.  Steven loved being a dad; he enjoyed hanging out with “his boys”, working on projects together, fixing cars, and following every Boston sport.  Steven was an avid Red Sox fan but he loved to collect sports memorabilia from all of his favorite Boston teams.

Steven cherished the time he spent with his family and friends; whether it was a trip to the beach, kayaking, fishing, or going to a club dancing, everyone was in for a good time with Steven there.

Steven was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Steven was the beloved husband of Patricia M. (Barysky) Ritchie, devoted father of Peter, Patrick, and Philip Ritchie all of Lawrence, cherished son of the late Charles and Phyllis (Martell) Ritchie, dear brother of Paul Ritchie & his wife Susan of Wilmington, NC, Janice Taylor & her husband Barry of Lowell, and Beth Pidgeon & her husband Colonel Robert  Pidgeon of Leland, NC, son-in-law of Mary and the late Peter Barysky of Wilmington, grandson-in-law of Josephine Castronovo of North Reading, brother-in-law of Marie & Bill Mason of Wilmington, Deborah& Charlie Moussalem of Methuen.  Steven is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Friday, May 16th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m.  Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.  Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15th from 5-8 p.m.
