Susan A. (McNeil) Roy

Susan A. (McNeil) Roy, age 49, a life-long resident of Wilmington, passed away suddenly on July 24th, 2019.

Born on February 10th, 1970, Susan was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Ann Marie (Harris) McNeil.  Susan grew up in Wilmington and attended Wilmington Public Schools, graduating from Wilmington High School, Class of 1988.

Following high school, Susan attended hair dressing school.  Susan worked in Arlington as a hairdresser for over 25 years, becoming friends with many clients and co-workers along the way.

Susan married her husband John on July 3rd, 2006 and soon after, the family grew with the birth of their two children; Charlie and Alaina.  Her children were Susan’s world.  She loved to spend time with her kids, whether it was playing sports with them out in the yard or sitting and drawing while watching them play. Susan was always the “life of the party” and leaves behind many friends.  She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Susan was the beloved wife of John Roy of Wilmington.  She was the devoted mother of Charlie and Alaina Roy of Wilmington.  Susan was the dear sister of the late Charles “Chuckie” McNeil.  She was the daughter-in-law of the late Herbert and Barbara Roy.  Susan was the sister-in-law of Jane Wilson & her husband Donald of Tewksbury and Mark Roy & his wife Patty of Moultonborough, NH.  Susan is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, as well as many friends.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62) Wilmington, on Monday, July 29th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, July 28th from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Susan’s name can be made to the charity of one’s choice.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending prayers and hugs to you all. I grew up with Susan. From the first grade and on she went to the Wilmington High. I went to the Tech. Every time we so each other when I was up there was like Old friends again. It really deepest sympathy she is gone but never forgotten. God bless your family. Amen

    So sorry for the loss of such a great person. I will always remember our trip to Europe, especially on the plane when we were awake all night and got scolded by the stewardess for laughing and being silly and keeping other passengers awake. We laughed about that for years. I will miss her.

    I am devastated to learn of your great loss of your wife and Mom. Susan was my hairdresser for over 20 years and she was an absolute sweetheart. Susan always did a excellent job on my hair and my daughter’s hair also. She was wonderful with children and had a great sense of humor. Susan loved you all and she was so proud of Charlie and Alaina! Family was everything to hèr. Charlie and Alaina were her pride and joy. She would do anything for anyone in need.
