Susan E. Eslinger, age 54, of Wells, ME and Marco Island, FL, formerly of Wilmington, MA, died peacefully on June 17, 2013, following a lengthy illness.
Susan was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on April 4, 1959, she was the cherished daughter of the late Howard E. and Evelyn A. (Carter) Eslinger.
Susan was employed for many years as a para-legal before her illness forced her retirement.
Susan moved to Wilmington, MA, many years ago but she loved spending her winters in Marco Island, Florida and summers in Wells Beach, Maine, where she made countless friends over the years. Susan was part of a “second family” that summered at Seaglass Village in Wells where she enjoyed her Sunday’s at the pool, playing bocci, bingo, going out to dinner, or just “hanging out” at the camp fire with friends.
Susan will be remembered for her strength and courage throughout her illness; she was truly a “fighter” who never gave up in the face of adversity. Susan lived her life to the fullest, she was kind, generous, and very friendly toward others. Sue was truly a remarkable lady who will be dearly missed by all.
Susan was the long-time companion of David G. Cahill of Wells, ME and Marco Island, FL, cherished daughter of the late Howard E. and Evelyn A. (Carter) Eslinger, dear sister of Brad Eslinger and his wife Julia of Lexington, MA and Mark Eslinger and his wife Lori of Eagan, MN, loving aunt of Brad, Andrea, and Nick. Susan is also survived by her dear friend Joan Cahill, as well as many friends in Seaglass Village, Maine and Marco Island, Florida and her beloved cat, “Baby Dee.”
Family and friends will gather for Visiting hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Thursday, June 27th from 4-8 p.m. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 28th at 10:30 a.m. in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA. Memorial donations in Susan’s name may be made to the M.S.P.C.A. – Angell Hospital, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
