Sutton, Theodore

Theodore “Ted” Sutton, age 85, of Tewksbury, formerly of Wilmington, died peacefully, Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Wingate of Andover.

Born on July 25, 1924, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Ted was the dear son of the late Aaron and Beatrice (Jacobs) Sutton. Ted moved with his family to the United States as a child and was raised in Somerville, MA. Following his graduation from High School, Ted was inducted into the United States Army in April of 1943, after serving his country during WWII he was honorably discharged. Ted soon went to work for the First National Stores Chain and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. After retiring, Ted went to work at AGFA in Wilmington for 10 years.

Ted married G. June McLennan in April 1945; they moved to Wilmington in 1953, and retired to Tewksbury 11 years ago. In his spare time, Ted was an avid golfer and proud member of the Eagles Landing Golf League, where in 2001, Ted made the “Ultimate Shot” a Hole-in-one at the Tewksbury Country Club. Ted will be fondly remembered as a hard worker, devoted family man, and a good friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Ted was the beloved husband and best friend of June (McLennan) for 64 years. Devoted father of Donna Gill and her husband Joseph and Jan Sutton all of Tewksbury. Loving grandfather of Brian Gill and his wife Monica of Ayer and Amy Parenteau and her husband Keith of Methuen. Proud great-grandfather of Emily, Michael, Matthew, and Ryan. Interment will be private.
