Thomas E. Carbone

January 3rd, 2017

Thomas E. “Tom” Carbone, age 60, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers on January 2, 2017.

Tom was born on January 6, 1956 in Cambridge, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Pasquale J. “Patsy” and Janice “Jane” (Lumb) Carbone. Tom was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Tewksbury High School.

Following high school, Tom went to work for Fisons for 20 years before going to work for Biopure, which became known as OPK, for the remainder of his career. Tom’s dedication and loyalty to his job promoted him to Supervisor. Tom worked at OPK until 2014. To keep himself busy, Tom went to work as the Sexton at the Methodist Church in Wilmington; a job he really enjoyed.

Tom moved to Wilmington in 1979, where he raised his family. He met and married Kathryn “Kathy” (Barnoth) Carbone on December 27, 1991. The couple just shared their 25th wedding anniversary. Tom and Kathy had many wonderful memories of trips to the beach, especially York Beach in Maine, holidays with their family and attending their children’s social events.

Tom was an active member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church. He volunteered as an usher each Sunday and worked with the Youth Group. Tom took a special interest in the kids and enjoyed the events and trips they planned.

Tom was dedicated to helping people; he was a founding member of the St. Paul’s Soup Kitchen. He also was a Mason at the Friendship Lodge in Wilmington; he really enjoyed volunteering and the friendships he made with his fellow Masons.

In his spare time, Tom watched many Red Sox games with his family and friends. He worked out in his garden often and loved going out to dinner, especially to Rocco’s Restaurant or Mario’s Restaurant in North Reading.

Tom will be remembered as a kind, gentle person and just a “nice guy”. His love for his family was apparent in everything he did. He cherished his time with his two granddaughters and couldn’t praise them enough. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Tom is the beloved husband of Kathryn (Barnoth) Carbone, devoted father of Dominic Carbone & his wife Germaine, Julieann Buchanan & her husband Ryan all of Lowell, Jacqueline Carbone and Elena Carbone, both of Wilmington, loving “Papa” of Madelyn and Josephine, cherished son of the late Pasquale J. “Patsy” and Janice “Jane” (Lumb) Carbone, dear brother of Patrick Carbone & his wife Donna of Lowell. Tom is survived by his cousin Richard Carbone & his wife Diane, many special friends and colleagues, as well as his beloved dog, Macy.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church Street, (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Thursday, January 5th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested Memorial Donations be made to the Wilmington United Methodist Church, Attn: Youth Group, 87 Church Street, Wilmington, MA 01887.
