Tillotson, Helen

tillotsonhelenHelen (Sheehan) Tillotson, age 77, of Wilmington, died Sunday, August 23, 2009, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer.

Helen was born in Boston, MA, but resided in Wilmington her entire life. Helen was a graduate of Wilmington High School and Tewksbury State Hospital Nursing School. Helen was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Tewksbury State Hospital for many years prior to her retirement.

Helen was very active she enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, watching ice skating, and was an avid swimmer at the YMCA’s in Lowell and Andover. Helen was also the nurse for the Drum and Bugle Corps. that her sons belonged to for many years.

Helen will be remembered by her family and friends as a devoted wife and mother, she loved to cook and make the holidays very special for her family and friends, and she was a wonderful friend and neighbor who was always making sure everyone felt included and loved. Helen will be missed by all who knew her.

Helen was the beloved wife of 55 years to Robert H. Tillotson who she married on July 23, 1954, she was the devoted mother of Robert H. Tillotson & his wife Mary Ann of Stoneham, George H. Tillotson & his wife Cathy of Ft. Wayne, IN, Harold H. Tillotson & his wife Heather of Manchester, IN, and Thomas J. Tillotson & his wife Andrea of Brownsburg, IN, loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, Helen is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 27th, 10:00 a.m. in the Congregational Church of Wilmington, 220 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours Wednesday, August 26th from 3-7 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave.,

Wilmington. Memorial donations in Helen’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

    Bob and Family, I cant express to you how much we are going to miss Helen. She took us in as family when we moved next to you and then when we had Celia she took over a wonderful grandmother role. Bob.. you and Helen have been such a huge part of Celia’s life and truly…you are family to us. If there is anything you need we are right next door. We love you both very much.

We have fond memories of when we first moved to the neighborhood and when Helen came over to meet us. We also remember seeing her out in the garden and frequently visiting with many of the neighbors.
