Valente, Ashley

December 11th, 2010

Ashley M. Valente, age 20, a resident of Wilmington, died Saturday, December 11, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born in Winchester, MA, on August 2, 1990, Ashley was the cherished daughter of Charles “Chuck” and Michele L. (Ruggiero) Valente of Wilmington.

Ashley grew up in Wilmington and attended Wilmington Public Schools through the 8th grade, she then went on to graduate in 2009 from Shawsheen Tech High School where she was a business major and was involved in many activities. She was a football cheerleader for the Shawsheen Rams and was very competitive in their track program. Ashley was also very involved in the Wilmington Pop Warner Cheerleading Program, competing for many cheerleading titles over the years.

Following High School, Ashley attended Johnson & Wales University in Miami were she majored in criminal justice.

At the time of her death, Ashley was currently employed as a receptionist at the Touch of Elegance Salon in Tewksbury, while trying to pursue her passion for the Air Force. Ashley’s dream was to become a Pilot.

Ashley was very much a “people person,” always vivacious, friendly, and energetic, it was no wonder that people were drawn to her.

Ashley’s favorite saying was “Live, Laugh, and Love,” traits she lived by. Ashley’s life was short but she lived it to the fullest, laughed as often as she could, and truly loved those around her, especially her family.

Ashley was a giver, she was dependable and enjoyed helping others, no matter what the situation was. Like most girls her age, Ashley loved to spend time with her friends and to shop; pocketbooks and shoes were among her favorite necessities. She loved sports, the Celtics and Patriots being her two favorite teams to watch. Ashley will be fondly remembered for her endearing personality and a smile that would light up a room. She was a beloved daughter, sister, auntie, godmother, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and a true friend. She was loved by so many people and will be missed more than words can say.

Besides her parents, who survive her, Ashley was the loving sister of Krystle L. Valente and Tony Valente of Wilmington, devoted aunt and godmother of Alexia Valente, beloved granddaughter of Frank and Jeanette Valente and the late John and Leita Ruggiero all of Wilmington, dear niece of Frank, Jr. & Cheryl Valente of Salem, NH, Alexander & Gemma Valente of North Reading, Linda & Steve Catalano of Goffstown, NH, Daniel & Susan Valente of Tewksbury, Pamela Valente of Kensington, NH, Michael Valente of Derry, NH, Carolyn Reynolds-Poore & Lewis Poore of Edgewater, FL, Carmela & Michael Liggiero of Freemont, NH, her godparents Sandra & Mike Dion of Derry, NH, James & Janice Ruggiero of Wilmington, and Joseph & Lori Ruggiero of Sterling, MA, Ashley is also survived by many cousins and dear friends.
